Self/relationships Enhancement
Alkebulan Self Enhancement Teachings (ASET). ASET is developed to fortify one with the necessary skills to develop the inner resolve to succeed at whatever task one undertakes. The first part of ASET is the Khepera Cipher Series. These are a series of workshops designed to illuminate the many facets of self. The workshop series will address many of the “-isms” (e.g. racism, sexism, and ethnocentrism) that plagues our community. Each topic is organized in a manner that encourages one to face the negatives of our community and move towards the enlightenment of the positives, in order to resurrect a new being. This series is named for the Khepera (dung beetle) of ancient Kemet (Egypt). The ancients had an inordinate amount of respect for the Khepera because of its birthing process. The Khepera lays eggs in dung or what appears to be waste. Then the beetle makes a ball with the dung and rolls it towards the Sun for an entire day. In 28 days new beetle life emerges. This was a sign that out of what appears to be nothing something comes only to the extent that that something is cared for properly and moved towards enlightenment. The rolling of the ball towards the Sun was the movement towards enlightenment. This movement is considered the proper preparation for new life. The series is designed to inspire new life through the following topics:
- Enslavement, Black self-image and the Reawakening
- The Leadership Imperative: Wholistic Health for Leaders
- What is a Man? & What is a Woman? Defining Manhood and Womanhood.
- Rediscovering Black Love: The Relationship between Spirituality and Spirituality
- Releasing the Power of a Human Being/Human Becoming.
- Know thyself
- To thy own self be true
Enslavement, Black self-image & the Reawakening
Being Black (Afrikan) in America, one is plagued with self-image issues such as “good hair”, “pretty Hair”, and “fair skin”. Many of the beliefs that many Blacks have about their image are a carry-over from the Afrikan enslavement process. Due to the horrific nature of enslavement Black (Afrikan) self-perception has become distorted. This workshop affords the progenies of the enslaved Afrikans (and others) to challenge their thoughts about what Blackness (Afrikaness) means and point the way to a renewed self-image of Blackness (Afrikaness).
The Leadership Imperative: Wholistic Health for Leaders
This session addresses the attributes of good leaders. The health of Afrikan Americans has gained the increased attention of many health specialists throughout the world. This session also addresses some of the health concerns of Afrikan people as well as point to ways to wholistic health for self and community.
Releasing the Power a Human Being to a Human Becoming
Humans are capable of accomplishing many more tasks then they often actualize. Often ones life potential is blocked or stifled by ones faulty beliefs and negative past experiences. This workshop allows the participants to address some of their beliefs and experiences and reveal their power to ascend beyond them.
What is a Man or Woman? A Prescription for Defining Manhood and Womanhood
This session explores the common and divine definitions of Manhood and Womanhood. Ways to promote optimal growth from the stages of male/female to boy/girl to Man/Woman are presented. Additionally, presenters discuss the significance of masculine/feminine synthesis for profound growth into Manhood and Womanhood.
Keeping it Real: To thine own self be True
We have been told some true and untrue things about ourselves. The information that we have received about who we are has shaped our identity and influences our daily behaviors. This session will allow the participant the opportunity to explore the information that they have been told about and that they tell themselves.
Know thyself
Self-knowledge is the basis of all knowledge. This session will assist participants with identifying their strengths and growth areas.
